***Fodor's Citypack

Amsterdam

by Teresa Fisher

Reviewed May 7, 2004.
Fodor’s Travel Publications, New York, 2002.  96 pages, plus map.
Available at Sembach Library (914.923 FIS).

Check out the new Fodor’s City Packs.  We have quite a few at the library.  I found that the City Pack for Amsterdam was the perfect accompaniment to a weekend in the city.  There’s a detailed street map included that was invaluable in finding our way around.  The book itself is short and lightweight, and therefore easy to carry around without weighing you down.  It highlights Amsterdam’s top 25 sights, so you can choose how you want to spend your time.

These City Packs are perfect for those of us living in Europe who want to spend a day or two in one city.  It would also be good on a longer trip, when you could leave your other, heavier guidebooks in the hotel.  It helps you decide what you want to see and then gets you there.
