***The Walrus on My Table

by Anthony Guglielmo and Cari Lynn

Reviewed August 2001.
Available at Sembach Library.

The other nonfiction book I read this week was also about animals.  Anthony Guglielmo is a massage therapist who began practicing massage on animals.  He started with horses, but moved on to walruses, dolphins, a penguin, dogs, cats, beluga whales, and even a shark.  His tales of how the animals showed their appreciation are astonishing.  He has been able to help cure animals who were hunched over with pain, and has helped others just plain feel good.  I like his story of a cat who always ignored him.  After he massaged the cat, he then tried to massage its owner (one of his regular human clients), but the cat kept trying to get between his fingers and her owner.  From then on, the cat decided he was her best friend.  This is light and quick reading and will leave you smiling.
