**Judy Moody Gets Famous

by Megan McDonald

Reviewed November 11, 2001.
Candlewick Press.  2001.  126 pages.  Available at Sembach Library.

This is a nice little book, for beginning chapter book readers, especially girls.

I enjoyed the story.  Judy Moody is jealous of a girl in her class who gets her picture in the newspaper for winning a spelling bee.  She realizes that she will never win fame through her spelling, so she sets out to find some other way of being famous.  Some attempts are disastrous, some go comically astray and some almost make it.  The way that Judy finally achieves fame at the end surprised me, but seemed just right.  A fun book.
