Song-and-Dance Tales from the Caribbean

by Grace Hallworth

illustrated by John Clementson

Reviewed March 14, 2003.
August House LittleFolk, Little Rock, 2002.  45 pages.
Available at Sembach Library  (J 398.209 HAL).

This book is shelved with the nonfiction, since it’s a collection of folk tales.  It’s worth making a special effort to look for it!

Written by a storyteller, the stories in this book would be great to share with a class full of children.  Each of the five tales includes a song, with the music given.  Three of the songs also have suggested dance steps explained.  The stories are good old-fashioned folktales.

This book could be a lot of fun!
