Psalms of Trust

In Psalms of Trust, we commit to trusting God and affirm that God is trustworthy.

Verses from Psalms of Trust, more than any other category, show up on lists of verses that bring comfort in hard times.

Technically, these are a form of Wisdom Psalms, but I've pulled out the ones that especially affirm the psalmist's trust in God.

These are the Psalms I'm categorizing as Psalms of Trust: Psalms 7, 11, 16, 21, 23, 25, 26, 27, 31, 46, 57, 62, 63, 71, 91, 108, 121, 123, 125, 131, and 141.

I've found seven Key Concepts in the Wisdom Psalms, and including these helps me write my own.

Trust

Maybe obvious, but I put these Psalms in this category because trusting God is an important theme.

Refuge

And God deserves that trust! God is described as our refuge and our fortress and many other words describing a place of safety.

No Fear

Part of our trust is realizing we don't need to be afraid because the Lord is with us.

Vindication

A theme is that we won't be put to shame if we trust in God.

Guidance

Part of our trust is trusting God to lead and guide us.

Deliverance

We ask God to be delivered from troubles.

Faithfulness

Whatever happens, we know that God is faithful.

Examples

Now you try! Read some Psalms of Trust in the Bible. (You'll be encouraged!) Then try to put some of these key concepts into your own psalm. Use parallelism to make it feel like a psalm.

Here are my examples of psalms of trust on my Sonderjourneys blog. I'd love to see examples from you in the comments!
